Lydia Lunch + BigSexyNoise – support: Subjam

It’s hard to think of a performer who makes it clearer that you shouldn’t mess with them than Lydia Lunch. – The Guardian

The unholy triumvirate of Big Sexy Noise featuring Lydia Lunch, James Johnston & Ian White of the notorious Gallon Drunk are dead set on proving once more that ROCK is alive and kicking, down and dirty and raunchier than ever.

In 2009, the icon of the unsurpassable No Wave New York Lydia Lunch formed the band Big Sexy Noise. The group features Lunch on vocals, and James Johnston (guitars), Terry Edwards (organ, saxophone and guitar) and Ian White (drums), previously members of the band Gallon Drunk. A six-track eponymous EP was released on June 1, 2009 through Sartorial Records. The EP included a cover of Lou Reed’s song “Kill Your Sons” and “The Gospel Singer”, a song co-written with Kim Gordon.
In 2010 the band added further five Johnston/Lunch originals plus a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover to complement the original six tracks and released their first self-titled album, still on Sartorial Rec.
Big Sexy Noise is the primaeval bump, grind and holler of White’s thuggish drums, Johnston’s moronic low-tuned riffing and Edwards’ brutal organ and sax interventions led by Lunch’s take-no-prisoners vocals.
The second album Trust The Witch came out one year later: the blues is still there, heavy and languorous, with the right amount of ambivalence served by his disciples among the boldest in the art of respect for the Sabbath and science discourse on method. A journey of initiation and conditioner that has been defended on several stages in Europe.
In September 2013, The Year of the Snake, Season of the Witch, Big Sexy Noise released the blistering balls-to-the-wall onslaught of Collision Course courtesy of Cherry Red Records.
Collision Course was a propulsive double disc featuring an unreleased live performance recorded in Italy, which proves just how much nasty fun three naughty noisemakers can conjure up, as well as the their last full studio LP Trust the Witch, which remained unavailable to the majority of fans. Relentless, outrageous, melodic, contagious, Collision Course is Big Sexy Noise at their brutarian best unleashing a torrent of hard rock, post punk and gutter up black and blues.
From the pounding classic rock of Maha Kali Calling to the swampy voodoo infused Trust the Witch, or the garage punk title track and through the back door of the savage funk of Ballin’ the Jack, to the crushing finisher of Forever on the Run, Big Sexy Noise throw down the gauntlet and dare you to shake your ass, lose your inhibitions, and for fuck sake…ROCK.

Today Big Sexy Noise continue to tour around the world as trio: Lydia Lunch, James Johnston & Ian White.
